This is an intensive 5 day course and learners will be required to complete work in their own time.
Prior to the course learners will need to complete 4 assignment questions which will form part of their course portfolio. These must be submitted on the first day of training.
Who needs this qualification?
This HABC Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) is ideal for new entrants into the teaching industry. It is also ideal for anyone currently teaching or who wishes to teach their subject specialism to others. If you are a trainer involved in providing funded Work Based Learning (WBL), you may also be required to obtain PTLLS in order to satisfy the funding requirements.
The course covers five sections which are as follows:
1. Understand own role, responsibilities and boundaries of role in relation to teaching.
2. Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches in the specialist areas.
3. Demonstrate session planning skills.
4. Understand how to deliver inclusive sessions which motivate learners.
5. Understand the use of different assessment methods and the need for record keeping.
Upon successful completion of the award learners will be awarded the HABC Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) certificate. This is a formal qualification that is situated on the qualification and credit framework (QCF) and attracts 6 credit points.
